Candle Creativity Spell

Orange CandlesAnd here is the second, more project-focused creativity spell that I have been working on. This one candle based, and does not result in the creation of a pouch, though some of the items you will need are the same.

Candle magicks are some of the oldest in the world. They are easily made, and so easily infused with energies and purposes that their uses are virtually limitless. When it comes time to actually perform the ritual, the lighting of the little flames in the dark is enough to give an attentive witch shivers.

Tools:

  • Salt
  • Orange note card(s) (one for each specific goal)
  • One orange candle
  • An object you associate with your creativity (a favorite paint brush or pen)
  • Muse crystal (or stone of citrine, aventurine, carnelian, garnet, howlite, moss agate or boulder opal)
  • Lighter
  • Fireproof offering bowl/plate
  • A song that you associate with your creativity (If you are doing this spell to help with writing, like me, you could also play a song that you have identified as a character’s theme song)

Ritual:

Cast three-fold space. Cast a light-weight circle around your working space. To reinforce this, sprinkle the salt on your altar, either in three interlocking circles or at three points on the surface. As you create each circle, say,

This is for the Goddess.”

This is for the God.”

This is for my Muse.”

Light your orange candle.

Light any other candles or incense you wish to burn. Many Wiccans have a candle they always burn to honor the Mother, or a ritual incense; now is the time to employ these.

Begin playing your creativity song. This song should be associated with your endeavors, something that either gets you excited or helps you to focus on the task at hand.

On the index card, write out your current goal, and then on the reverse side write what you think is stopping you from achieving that goal. Remember to be specific, and don’t be afraid to use multiple cards for one purpose.

(This part is to always be done with GREAT CARE) When you are ready, read the card front and back aloud to yourself, followed by:

Muse of art, Muse of sound

Muse of thought, come gather round.

I summon your power, your guiding light.

Guide my hand in this creative rite.

And as I call your spirits forth,

So shall it be!”

As you recite the spell, let the index card catch on the flame of the orange candle. Hold it over to fireproof dish and allow the remnants to smolder when you can no longer hold it. If you have multiple cards, you must read each card aloud, though repeating the spell each time is optional. When you are done, take a few moments to visualize your goals, their completion and what you would do were they to actually be complete in that moment.

Take the ashes of the index cards outside and scatter them, preferably in a place with free-flowing water (though at the base of a tree or in another personally important location will work just fine.)

On a completely unrelated note, I’ve been creating a Wicca based board on Pinterest! So far got some short spells, witchy advice and humor, with more stuff being added daily.

I like this! Very simple, but seems effective.
Do you have any advice for someone who may not be able to set the index card on fire? I live in a college dorm, and I don’t want to risk setting something on fire via smoldering embers (I do light candles occasionally, however).

    • Hi brynvalk, thanks for reading! I would suggest placing the card under the orange candle and leave it there under the lit candle for a little while, maybe tilt the candle and spill some wax over it. I hope this helps. )O(
